Recovery Houses

Rabbi Kessler and MezuzahFor highly motivated Jewish addicts after completing in-patient treatment with at least 90 days of continuous sobriety, JRC’s recovery houses are the ideal destination. With separate residences for women and men, our sober homes provide the necessary support for individuals who are transitioning back into society. To help insure sustained sobriety the recommended length of stay is six months.

Unique to Florida, half-way houses offer an additional level of supervision at the fragile and sensitive phase of re-entry. The Jewish Recovery Center sober homes provide recovering men and women an opportunity for a smooth transition from in-patient treatment back to life in the real world in a safe, nurturing Jewish environment.

On-call supervision is 24 hours with random drug screening. Residents are encouraged to attend morning meditation, group education and daily 12-step meetings. We offer case management services such as job counseling, referrals to outside professionals as needed and access to a library of 12-step materials and Jewish texts on culture and spirituality.

KitchenIt’s a place to call home, located in a safe residential neighborhood within comfortable walking distance to stores and synagogue where residents can attend regularly scheduled services. Our recovery houses are conducive to keeping Kosher and observing Shabbos, many for the first time in their lives. And for others who have lost interest as a result of their addictions, its a place to rediscover and reconnect with Yiddishkeit.

Over the years, past residents have evolved into a parellel community to Chabad of Boca Raton providing an additional sense of healing and sobriety infused by the warmth of Torah and belonging. Many have settled here to raise their families creating an inspirational network of hope and support. The Jewish Recovery Center provides a unique experience in sober community living and Jewish culture, it doesn’t matter if you’re observant, unaffliated or somewhere in between, all are welcome.

Crisis Intervention and Placement Service

sad_manAddiction does not discriminate. Rich and poor, young and old are subject to its devastating effects. If you or a loved one are in trouble and you don’t know where to turn, we can help. The JRC, while not a drug treatment center, has built an extensive referral network with top addiction experts.   Whether the situation requires in-patient, spiritual counseling, after-care management or emergency treatment, the JRC will put you in touch with the right agencies and individuals. You don’t have to suffer in silence.

Parents, rabbis and shluchim from the US and abroad can access our resources and guidance when making a placement decision. Deciding where to send a family member, significant other or even yourself can be overwhelming under the best circumstances, especially so when challenged by emotions and  distance.  The JRC is here to offer a confidential assessment over the phone or in person and assist you in all the details.

The JRC also offers recovering addicts, and their families, an extra level of support to navigate the transitional period from treatment to daily life.  This fragile period in the recovery process, if not handled properly, can reverse all the achievements accomplished during treatment. We can help safeguard those at risk while they reside at our sober house.

As Rabbi Kessler serves as chaplain to many treatment facilities, he is often able to intervene when a family member is struggling with relapse, or maybe facing legal consequences and possibly  incarceration in south Florida.

The Jewish Recovery Center is a well-connected organization specializing in matching Jewish addicts with the best possible treatment programs geared to the nuance of each individual and their families.  We are a phone call away, (561) 450-5503 or chabadflorida@gmail.com.

During the holidays, JRC events are expanded to welcome the two hundred plus participants with special meals, readings and prayers.
